Class 2: Kodable.com & Maze Creations
Learning programming helps kids to improve their digital literacy skills. In this session, students use logical thought to build complex mazes and practice coding skills with Kodable.com.
Class 3: Techie Maps
What does it mean to instruct a computer? How do we make computers do what we want? Kids use Techie Maps to learn about creating commands. This session includes digital and unplugged components.
Class 4: Get in the Loop!
Loops are an essential concept for computer programmers. In this session, Techie Kids learn to loop by practicing a fun dance with their Techie Kids Club coach. They'll also work with their classmates to design their own dance to explore the looping concept through movement.
Class 5: LEGO® Character Coding
This lesson uses LEGO Education toys to review the many roles of a coder. Students use their own creativity to build custom LEGO creations and code them to convey a story. We focus on open-ended instructions to encourage imaginative play.
Class 6: Cause & Effect With Colors and Movement
Students learn about conditional statements and if/then thinking. Both are important components of programming. This session includes digital and unplugged activities such as jumping and hopping to teach lessons about cause and effect.
Class 7: Art Bot
There are robots all around us. In this session, students learn about robotics, force, motion, and motors with a focus on collaboration and creativity. Each child will also design and build their own unique Art Bot to take home.
Class 8: Dash & Look-alike Slime
A young scientist’s dream come true! Students use Dash the Robot and learn about cause and effect. We’ll also create a scientific reaction to create a slime look-alike version of Dash. Ooey, gooey, slimey hands-on fun.
